About the Display

Watch an £8000 display for as little as £5

Some consider the Dinton Bonfire Boys display to be the best and biggest for miles around and many people return every year to see a stunning display. Usually we have a crowd of over 2000 people.

Following the very successful 25th Anniversary show in 2005, we are using the same site again for this year's event. It means that it is easier to access and park and the surface is very manageable for vehicles. The site at Dinton Park is used by us courtesy of the National Trust , who are responsible for both the Park and the adjoining Philipps House. For more information, please visit the National Trust website.

Our many regular visitors know what a big bang we make, and this year's display will be no different. We are also planning to update our setpiece battle display. The tanks, a firm favourite with everyone, are being rebuilt and made bigger.

For our finale we want to replicate an effect our team liked when they made their annual pilgrimage to Malta. There, they visited the local equivalent of our organisation. As we have such a wonderful site with the scope for a massive spread, we hope to fire a line of shells simultaneously over 400 yards. It will be a magnificent sight, and not to be missed.

About the Bonfire

The bonfire is lit as the firework display ends.

You are welcome to stay and keep warm, but please don’t get too close.

The bonfire is usually built two weeks in advance by a team of volunteers, using old crates and pallets from the local area as the basic building material.

As you can see from the photographs it’s usually quite large.

Advice

For those of you who have not been to one of our displays before, we have the following advice:

  • Your safety: Stay behind the safety fencing. Please don’t bring your own fireworks.
  • Car Parking: The car park is on grass; drive steadily especially if the surface is damp. Please follow the directions from the ‘marshals’.
  • Arriving On Foot: Please use the entrance by the churchyard rather than the driveway being used by cars.
  • Footwear: Wear sensible footwear, as the whole area is grazed by cows until the end of October.
  • Torches: Bring a torch. We do light the viewing area and the way to it, but it always helps to have your own torch when finding your car afterwards.
  • Litter: Please take all your litter home, especially used sparklers.
  • Noise: This is a large fireworks display; the loud bangs may frighten small children. Please don’t bring any pets.
  • Cancellation: Any large firework display is affected by the weather (e.g. strong wind, low cloud, very heavy rain). If the forecast weather conditions are unsuitable, we will cancel the display (we don’t postpone). The final decision will be made on the day before the display. This website will be updated with the latest news on Friday 2nd November. Spire FM (102) will also announce any cancellations.

About Us

The Dinton Bonfire Boys is a totally voluntary not for profit organisation of local people who raise money for our local community and provide a night of fun that has been held for over 100 years.

The fireworks are set up and fired by a small, professional team who are fully trained, licensed and insured. When working as Bonfire Boys, they provide their services as volunteers. If you want to know about them, please link to them at the Flame Burst FX website.
